So there we are, it’s all over. These 33 days of treatment, spread over more than six weeks since the middle of September, have gone by fairly quickly but I am glad it’s over. Looking back it’s been nowhere near as challenging as I was expecting or had been led to believe. Ultimately there has been no tiredness to speak of and such that has been there I can easily… Read Article →
Nearly There
So this is the penultimate day. Of course, now that it’s nearly over I seem to have cracked the daily routine completely. Today was also completely straightforward so nothing new to report. Day 32 Tiredness: 0/10 Side Effects: No change
Final Week
As this is a blog about my prostate I won’t go into details about the weekend. Suffice to say that it was one of the worst times of my life. Anyway, here we are and I’m now into the final three days of treatment. Today was relatively routine with no problem with the bladder before or during the treatment. Also, the twinge in my stomach seems to have settled down… Read Article →
30 Up
So, that’s the end of the sixth week and it’s also the last full week I’ll be doing. Just Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week to get through. I’m catching up with some friends tomorrow for committee meeting for a club we all belong to. We had originally planned to leave fairly early in the morning to visit a preserved steam railway on the way. But the weather isn’t looking… Read Article →
Is Enough, Enough?
After today’s treatment I am almost 90% through my scheduled 33 doses. The treatments are precise and highly targeted and I know that the consultant and radiographers want to give enough to get the job done without the excesses that can lead to more severe side effects and increased risks down the line. So presumably at some point towards the end of my treatment I should have received enough doses… Read Article →
Out of Synch
My wife was visiting from Paris over the weekend but she needed to get back today for some work commitments later in the week. Her Eurostar ticket was for around lunchtime, so she needed to be in London sometime around noon. That gave us the option of dropping her off on my way to the treatment or waiting until afterwards. The station in Milton Keynes is reasonably close to the… Read Article →
Protocol
Each day after my treatment I visit one of the two toilet cubicles next to the treatment room. Sometimes I change first and sometimes I go straight there. It depends how full I am feeling and how quickly I need to go. I’ve often wondered about the protocol of how to leave the toilet seat. I pee standing up so naturally I raise the seat beforehand, if it’s down. But… Read Article →
Single Figures
Today was the start of the last full week of treatment and I’m well and truly on the home leg. Just four more days this week and three next and I’ll be done. So now it’s counting down into single figures and I am about 80% of the way through this. The weekend was uneventful in terms of the treatment and side effects. My wife and I went to London… Read Article →
Five Weeks Down
Today was the end of the 5th week of treatment. All in all it’s gone relatively smoothly, with no signs yet of any fatigue or tiredness. I’d expected it to have started by now so perhaps I’ll get away without it. The diarreah has also settled down and is more or less predictable. I go fairly soon after getting up and then again about an hour later, and that’s it…. Read Article →
Two Weeks Left
I’ve now completed 23 treatments which means there are just 10 left. That’s just two weeks. Although it doesn’t seem that long since I started I’m nearly at the end of the 5th week of treatment. Today I was back on track with the water and timing. The drive to the facility was uneventful and, taking the usual route, it took just under 30 minutes to get there. I was… Read Article →
