33 Not Out
So there we are, it’s all over. These 33 days of treatment, spread over more than six weeks since the middle of September, have gone by fairly quickly but I am glad it’s over.
Looking back it’s been nowhere near as challenging as I was expecting or had been led to believe. Ultimately there has been no tiredness to speak of and such that has been there I can easily attribute to normal factors such as lack of sleep and the normal disruptions of daily life. Nor have the other side effects been too onerous. The diarreah has been relatively mild and little more than an inconvenience. It certainly hasn’t stopped me doing anything and once I became used to the daily schedule that my body settled on, it has been easy to cope with.
The doctors and radiographers have told me any symptoms will abate over time but that I should continue to manage my diet so help minimise any side effects. Everyone at the centre has been really kind and helpful. I know they see a lot – too many of course – people like me every day but I always felt that they had time for me and helped make the “experience” as personal as possible.
I was hoping to have a bit of a break now that the treatment is over but personal and family issues have intervened so that will have to wait for a few weeks at least.
I’ll be taking a break from the blog now until I see my consultants, probably in early December.
