A Routine Day
Today was one of the easiest so far and certainly a lot better than yesterday. No problems during the journey to the centre, just the right amount of water drunk and almost straight in to the treatment room on arrival, so no worries about holding on with a full bladder (or worrying about it not being full enough).
I did have a minute or so before I was called through to chat to a another patient who I met for the first time. We made eye contact and just started talking. He’s older than me and almost through his treatment series with just another four or five days left.
From what I could tell during our brief chat he seems to be doing rather well. That gives me some renewed confidence that tiredness and other side effects won’t be too bad after all. We shall see over the next few weeks.
I’ve met a few other patients now but the short time slots for the appointments and the way the centre works mean that there are relatively few opportunities to speak with people going through the same thing. Everyone is different, of course, and many people might not want to speak with complete strangers. But it seems to me that asking other people how they are doing and perhaps sharing a few words of encouragement with each other can be no bad thing.
