Protocol
Each day after my treatment I visit one of the two toilet cubicles next to the treatment room. Sometimes I change first and sometimes I go straight there. It depends how full I am feeling and how quickly I need to go.
I’ve often wondered about the protocol of how to leave the toilet seat. I pee standing up so naturally I raise the seat beforehand, if it’s down. But the question is, should I leave it up or put it back down again afterwards?
Given that around half the patients visiting the treatment centre are men, and all of them are having the same treatment as me, there’s roughly a 50/50 chance that the person using the loo after me will also be a man. Mostly they will be needing a pee too, so is it reasonable to leave the seat raised on that basis that there is a one in two chance that the next user will also need it raised?
Or is it the correct protocol to always lower the seat (and the lid)?
