Single Figures
Today was the start of the last full week of treatment and I’m well and truly on the home leg. Just four more days this week and three next and I’ll be done. So now it’s counting down into single figures and I am about 80% of the way through this.
The weekend was uneventful in terms of the treatment and side effects. My wife and I went to London on Saturday to take part in the latest Anti-Brexit, pro-People’s Vote march. We’ve been on most of the previous ones too over the past three years.
Travelling away from home for days out like this while the treatment is ongoing can present some potential challenges: will I need to go to the toilet at short notice and if so, where? I’d no reason to expect there to be a problem on Saturday because there hadn’t been one during any of the previous five weeks since the treatment started. But it pays to be prepared so, as I do every day at the moment, I took some spare underwear, tissues and wipes just in case. Of course they weren’t needed which was just as well.
In the end we arrived in London at around lunchtime and instead of marching with everone else made our way straight to Parliament Square to see the speakers. Afterwards we met up with some friends for a drink in one of the historic Westminster pubs before going home. It ended up being quite a late dinner – fish and chips collected from the local take away on the way home.
Today’s treatment was uneventful although I was slightly worried during the drive down to the facility that I hadn’t quite drunk enough water. The urge came fairly late, which was unusual, but by the time I arrived and changed, I was just about ready so there was no delay.
I’ve also experienced a small amount of daytime tiredness for the first time today. However, I am putting this down to a busy weekend and slightly irregular sleep patterns at the moment – going to bed a bit earlier and rising earlier too. Let’s seeif it turns into something else during the rest of the week.
